Earlier this week TNA Impact vice president John Gaburick tweeted that TNA's flagship pay-per-view Lockdown will be coming to broadcast television. It will be part of the New York tapings in early January, and will air on January 9th. It has been speculated for months that TNA may be done with pay-per-views after inking a new TV deal with Destination America and having nothing announced outside of a handful of New York and UK shows. The last Impact Pay-Per-View was Bound For Glory in October at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall.
The general thought is that Impact might no longer be running house shows either. Things could change, though, with announcements coming out of the Impact camp at rapid fire. Impact has recently declared the re-signing of several of their stars including Kurt Angle, Abyss, and Ethan Carter III. Gail Kim and the American Wolves are currently on a match per match basis, since their contracts are up (probably why they lost their titles) and they have not re-signed. Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards are both committed to the 1/8 show, as they are slated to main event against Matt and Jeff Hardy. Former WWE announcer Josh Matthews has signed to be on Impact's commentary team. He'll be alongside Mike Tenay and Taz, who is starting his own podcast on January 7th.
To anyone wondering if Impact Wrestling will go back to a four sided ring or not, the Lockdown show has been advertised as "six sides of steel." If worst comes to worst and Impact does go back to four sides, at least Lockdown will have the classic six sides.
